Ahhhh!

That about sums it up! Ahhhh! A break from the daily grind! This has been a really good break from a perspective point of view. I have really been refreshed and my eyes have been opened to just how good I have it. Now do not take that as bragging! Because you see....I have honestly been full of the grumbles. I have found about every side of negative around me. However, I have had some eye opening and see just what I do have. I am looking forward to returning from break with a new perspective. I know that it will not make things disappear that once were frustrating, but maybe it will help me deal with the frustrations in a different way. Meanwhile I will continue to enjoy family, friends, and time off!

Time?!

It is that TIME of the year that we question where TIME has gone. The semester is also most over. It is almost Christmas. Where has the TIME gone? I look at this blog and wonder if I will ever have TIME to use it like I would like. I question how others utilize their social media so well. I just don't have TIME! Or maybe it is a sacrifice of TIME on their part? Taking TIME from somewhere else to give to another. Sometimes I think that maybe once "x" is done I will have more TIME for "y". Yet, the TIME doesn't seem to appear.  It's finals week here at the college and time will be/should be consumed by studies, papers, final projects, and exams by the students. TIME will be consumed by instructors with grading. It has been Book Fair at ECS which adds lots to the schedule. Monday there will not be enough TIME in the day to complete the tasks that are set out between finals and the final day of the fair. As I type this we are hurried for T...

Privacy Please?!

I'm sure you have seen them.... "Facebook has changed it's privacy settings...I'll be posting this on my timeline for the next ..." types of posts. I have struggled with whether to respond or not. And if I did, just how to word the response. Recently, a fellow techie addressed this on her Facebook page (as well as some other "issues"): https://www.facebook.com/GingerLewman?hc_location=stream Bottom line: Facebook is a public place. Reality? I am for the most part a private person. I'll be honest.  However, I am learning how to weigh the balance of private and public that I need in this entity. I/it am/is a work in progress :) Here are some things to think about: 1. There are privacy settings that you can adjust for yourself. 2. Even individual posts can be set for different privacy settings. 3. You can untag yourself from tagged photos or edit your albums privacy settings.  For me the biggest issue is not what I ...

Had enough?!

Lately I've been a little on the grumpy side. Some days you could say that I had had enough! Enough of this or enough of that. As I sat outside in the cool fall evening, I was reminded that I should be happy in enough.  *We have enough food and do not go hungry. *We have enough gas in the car to get where we need to go. *We have enough clothing to keep us warm and cool as the seasons dictate. *We have enough money to pay the bills. Yes, sometimes I will have enough and be frustrated. However for tonight, I am thankful to have enough.

Stop....Drop....and...

READ! How else would you follow up with "awesome bookmarks" and the like? Aka time intensive projects. Stop. Drop. And Read! 10 minutes of checkout time, 10 minutes for silent reading, and 10 minutes of buddy reading This was the best Tuesday library day so far this year!!! I was so excited to see how much the kids enjoyed the time. Some found fun space under tables.... Some found bookshelf space :) Others had chairs, floorspace, or whatever their creative minds could come up with! All were enjoying the books! Can't wait for tomorrow and the next Stop. Drop. And Read!

Library Happenings: Awesome Bookmarks

Image
Thanks to Pinterest, the fourth and fifth graders have had a fun library project. This is Awesome Bookmarks: Link (and credit): http://www.creativefamilymoments.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/DSCN5174.jpg I had kids on the floor and I stood on a chair,  others laid on chairs, and some just stood.  It was fun to see just how creative they were with this. I should have had the computer to open the  pictures for better viewing. Some pictures  did not turn out as well as the student  woul d have liked and so we ended up at  Wally World twice printing pictures. It also  would have helped to have had a printer that printed photos. We could have avoided extra  library time  and the Wally World trips. The students cut around their photos, some  opted to glue the photo to card stock for stability. I  offered to laminate if some wanted that as well. I hope these actually make it home for parents  to see...

Blogging blahs

I have the blog blahs. Every time I start I end up deleting the post and having no new post. I'm busy! I have so many things to choose from and yet nothing seems blog worthy.  What can I share? I want my blog to be valuable to others. I've decided to try to detail my library happenings for some blogs. Don't tune out if you are not a librarian! I think you could apply some of the ideas to any classroom.  Hope you enjoy my library happenings posts! It at least will hopefully help me get other my blogging blahs.
